These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the PromptSentry browser extension and the PromptSentry team dashboard (together, the "Service"), provided by PromptSentry ("we", "us", "our"). By installing the extension, creating an account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
PromptSentry is a data loss prevention tool that detects and blocks sensitive information (such as personal data, API keys and credentials, and healthcare identifiers) from being submitted to third-party AI platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, and Grok. It consists of:
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the authority to agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself or the organization you represent.
The free browser extension does not require an account. The team dashboard requires an account, and you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@promptsentry.io if you suspect unauthorized access.
Organization owners and admins can view incident data and manage membership for users within their organization. By joining an organization (including via an invite link), you consent to your usage data being visible to that organization's owners and admins as described in our Privacy Policy.
The browser extension is free for individual use, with no account or payment required.
The team dashboard uses the following pricing tiers, based on your organization's peak user count during a billing period:
Once your organization exceeds the free tier, a valid payment method is required to add additional users. Billing is calculated monthly based on your organization's peak user count during that period and charged in arrears; your first billed month is free. You can update or remove your payment method, or reduce your team size, at any time from the dashboard.
If a payment fails, we will attempt to notify the organization's billing contact and will retry billing. After repeated failed payment attempts, we may suspend dashboard access for the organization until a valid payment method is provided; this does not affect the free browser extension's protection for your team, only access to the team dashboard. We do not currently offer refunds for prior billing periods.

PromptSentry uses pattern-based detection to identify likely sensitive information. No detection system is perfect. The Service may fail to detect some sensitive information (a "false negative") or incorrectly flag information that is not actually sensitive (a "false positive"). PromptSentry is intended to reduce the risk of sensitive data being shared with AI platforms, and is not a guarantee that no sensitive data will ever be submitted. You remain responsible for your own and your organization's data handling practices, and should not rely on the Service as your sole safeguard for regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS) or as a complete substitute for employee training and internal policy.
The Service, including its software, detection logic, design, and branding, is owned by PromptSentry and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the Service. You retain ownership of any content you submit through the Service; we do not store the actual sensitive content the extension detects (see our Privacy Policy).
You may stop using the Service at any time, including by uninstalling the extension or deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, with or without notice, if we believe these Terms have been violated, if required by law, or for non-payment as described in Section 4. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends, though data deletion is governed by our Privacy Policy.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT IT WILL DETECT ALL SENSITIVE INFORMATION.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PROMPTSENTRY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, REVENUE, OR PROFITS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY SENSITIVE INFORMATION THAT IS NOT DETECTED OR BLOCKED BY THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US ANYTHING.
You agree to indemnify and hold PromptSentry harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms with a new "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, by email.
